I’ve always enjoyed photographing babies, and every time I’m asked to take newborn or baby photos for someone I know that they are in fact asking me to photograph one of the most important moment’s in their lives. As such for me it’s always a huge privilege and honour to introduce yet another baby to the big wide world.
Gosia and Paul were no different from any other new parent I’ve met over the years, they arrived at the studio (they chose to come to me rather than asking me to do the newborn photos for them at home as I usually do) excited and proud to show off their son, Thomas.

Meet Thomas, at six weeks old, he's not quite a newborn, but he's still as cute as a button and was very peaceful throughout the shoot.

I love photographing babies both with and without props, although a newborn baby doesn’t really need a prop to show him off, but it’s always nice to add a touch of detail or use something to give a sense of scale, so we photographed baby Thomas in a toy box (onto which I’ve photo-shopped an engraving of his name) along with a toy tigger, a gift, from his grandparents.

We also benefited from shooting in the studio as Paul and Gosia wanted to have their photo taken with baby Thomas, which provided them with some lovely photos to take home and send as a new family portrait photo to their friends and family across the world.

One of my particular favourite photos from the shoot was a shot I was took of all of their hands together, there’s nothing that communicates family and love more strongly to me than Paul and Gosia gently holding hands, their wedding bands on show, and Thomas’s tiny fingers clinging to them.
