I’ve just got home from the second Stupini Kids Golf Day! We got rained on, we fell in the mud (Alan!) We laughed, we cried and most of all we all had fun! And not only that we raised lots of much needed money for two very worthy charities. Stupini Kids (a homework club for underprivileged children in Romania) and The Chestnut Tree House (a Hospice for young people in Sussex)
This was my second year photographing this great charity event at the Mannings Heath Golf Club just outside Horsham, and although the rain made taking photos quite difficult, and at times ruined certain photos we’ve still got lots of great shots of everyone.
The day started with registration and sorting out the teams, followed by delicious bacon butties served up by the staff of The Mannings Heath Golf Club, before a few practice swings on the driving range and then heading out to the beautiful ‘Waterfall course’ which is usually reserved exclusively for members only. The day started off dry, with breaks in the clouds allowing for some beautiful shots down onto the green from my vantage point on the 10th tee. After a snack lunch the weather turned and we were dodging heavy showers and puddles by the end of the day…which says a lot about some of the keen golfers who took it all in their stride. I personally huddled under an umbrella (keeping my camera dry…really!) and borrowed Carl, the event organiser’s, rain coat.
The day was rounded of with hot drinks, and cold beers at the bar followed by a delicious lamb dinner and apple tart dessert. After which the real fundraising got going, the raffle, which is always popular, and the auction with some great pieces, including signed memorabilia from the London 2012 Olympics, signed caps and shirts, as well as hot off the press framed photos of the American Open winning team. Followed by trophies for today’s winning team. The total amount raised is yet to be announced, but we I will make a note of that when we find out.
