Now this studio photo shoot was a bit out there, even by my standards, but when Jess (and old friend) contacted me to ask if I could help her to create a brand image for herself as a singer, I knew immediately that this was going to be something exciting to work on. The photographs were to be taken in our Horsham Photography Studio, to maximise the control we had of the lighting and Jess also didn’t want any background distractions in the photos.
The studio photo shoot was organised and the outfits were chosen, stage make-up applied and the photo shoot began. Jess had brought along several friends who helped her by representing some of her personalities, not that she’s schizophrenic or anything just ‘Kooky’ and funny and we were blowing that Kookyness totally out of proportion today!
The joys of doing a photo shoot with full stage make-up is that you can really focus the viewers attention where you want it to be. Normal make-up works for every day use, but when you get under studio lights you really need to wear a bit more make-up, simply because under photo studio conditions and at high-resolution any tiny imperfections will show up, but also because extra make-up (when done well) makes your face jump out of the photo, which is what Jess did with her eye make-up!
Anyway, we had so much fun that the supposedly 1hr photo shoot ended up taking about 4hrs simply because we kept having more and more ideas about things to do. After the shoot I went home and started editing the photos in photoshop, which was as fun as taking them in my opinion. The photos brought back and communicated the fun and laughter of the photo shoot perfectly.
Anyway, enjoy the photos taken at our Photo Studio in Horsham, West Sussex. You can find them on our facebook page as well, please feel free to like and comment on them there.
