When I started working as a photographer I thought that my life would revolve mainly around my family studio photography and wedding photography during the wedding season, with event photography coming in as an occasional extra bit of work during the school prom and charity fundraising season.
How wrong I was, this last year has seen a huge shift in my photography focus, and almost definitely for the better. I have been working more and more as a commercial photographer, photographing hundreds of products over the year; everything from a ten seater table and chairs for a Rudgwick based Garden furniture company through small stacks of books for an antique dealer near Billingshurst, as well as network cables for a Horsham based internet hardware supplier through to clothing from a Dorking based fashion designer.
The benefit for my photography, apart from earning the extra money, is that with commercial photography customers demanding the highest quality photos to show off their products, I am learning more and more about my craft, as well as how to work with clients to achieve the photos they want, and learning the need for regular communication to maintain a great working relationship with them.
Here’s just a few photos from a few of my commercial photoshoots this year.
There’s been a handful of different wedding and event venues to shoot…
There’s been some interesting detail shoots for online product sales
And even some furniture photography for a local company that supplies nursing homes and private individuals with disabilities.
